Liveable Communities

This consultation has concluded.

What if you were given the freedom to change your town or city – what would you do? Would you put kinetic sculptures everywhere? Is there a theme you would adopt? Are there events you would like to hold, or would you just choose peace and quiet?

From 1996 to 2001, Taranaki's population declined by 3.5 percent. That was reversed from 2001 to 2006, when the number of people living here increased by 1.2 percent, to 104,124. Now the challenge is to have 135,000 people living in Taranaki by 2035. How can we attract more people here? Do we want the population to keep rising? Will our beaches and surf breaks get too crowded? Will we have enough housing? It's time to ponder the people problem...
