Bridging the gap... what if Taranaki's northern and southern road outlets become impassable because bridges are wiped out? What do we do?
The answer could be Bailey bridges. That's the suggestion of New Plymouth man Joe Rodrigues, who wrote a letter to the Taranaki Daily News after the last September's earthquake in Christchurch. Click on the photo of the NZ Army building a Bailey bridge to learn all about these constructions.
